Ottomans are an essential piece of furniture for any room in every home with their ability to play up your current home decor at a relatively inexpensive price. With their small foot print they are easy to move around if needed and will take up minimal space next to your other home furniture. They also play up couches and sofas quite nicely as an accent piece. Usually found in living rooms, ottomans can usually be found in front of a sofa, couch, lounge chair, or seating area. If they will be featured in a prominent room in your house, such as the living room, be certain they match the fabric/upholstery of your other furniture in order to blend in. Ottomans can also be used as a stand-out piece if your home has a contemporary design; for example if your room has a modern vibe with black sofas try inserting a red ottoman to really make an impression.
Ottomans are not all made alike! For many people the term ottoman conjures up images of a bland, dark coloured piece of furniture with little practical use. However ottomans these days come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes and can be adapted for a variety of practical uses. Ottomans can be upholstered in a variety of fabrics and can be made to match your existing furniture or come included as part of a new furniture suite. There is no reason why you cannot find or create exactly the right ottoman for your needs, theme and lifestyle.
A Little More than a Storage Bench. While most of us find the additional storage of a modern ottoman to be ideal, many of us are blown away when we discover that they can also be used as a table. Many of the modern ottoman styles are designed to be used as a table, food tray, foot rest, and storage bench all wrapped into one attractive package. The modern ottoman storage bench can replace that coffee table and help you get control over typical living room clutter.
Ottoman Furniture Options. Ottomans are armless, upholstered seats or benches. They are available with a solid base or with decorative legs. Ottomans are most often used as a footstool, but they have other uses as well. Some ottomans are made hollow to provide room for storage, a feature that is particularly useful in small homes and apartments, where storage room are always welcome. Ottomans are available individually, as a component of sectional seating, or as part of an easy chair, sofa or loveseat set.
